Overview

Role: Product Designer
Timeline: 2024
Focus: Mobile UX, accessibility, interaction design

I led usability improvements for Onbe’s native mobile app, focusing on the login flow and digital wallet experience. The goal was to reduce friction, improve interaction clarity, and increase user trust in a mobile-first financial product.

Small interaction issues had a disproportionate impact on engagement and retention.

Problem

Users experienced friction in key mobile interactions:

  • Small tap targets and unclear touch feedback

  • Difficulty finding and understanding transaction history

  • Confusing login flows that caused abandonment

These issues reduced engagement and trust in the mobile experience.

Research & Insights (Approach)

To identify root causes, I:

  • Reviewed analytics and session recordings

  • Conducted usability testing focused on mobile interaction patterns

  • Audited tap targets and gesture accessibility

  • Observed how users navigated the wallet during real tasks

A key insight emerged:
Minor interaction inconsistencies created hesitation in moments that required confidence.

Solution

I redesigned key mobile interactions to improve clarity and ease of use.

Improvements included:

  • Increasing tap target sizes and spacing

  • Improving visual hierarchy within the digital wallet

  • Clarifying transaction states and labels

  • Enhancing login flow feedback and error handling

Each change focused on making actions feel intentional and predictable.

Validation & Results (Impact)

Testing and post-launch data showed:

  • Reduced accidental taps and interaction errors

  • Improved transaction discoverability

  • Increased engagement and retention

  • Lower login abandonment rates

The updates created a smoother, more trustworthy mobile experience.

Reflection

This project demonstrated how small, focused improvements in interaction design can have a significant impact on user confidence and product adoption.
